TILO

I design interiors

Start from whatever you have.

A photo of the plan, an AutoCAD drawing, a picture of the sofa your client loves. TILO turns it into a room you can walk through, in the browser. Nothing to download.

  1. Draw the planRooms, doors and windows, then open it in 3D.
  2. Finish and furnishA floor tile, a wall finish and furniture from your library.
  3. Add your own piecesA model you downloaded, or one Model Studio made from a photo.
  4. Put it in placeMove and turn each piece where it belongs.
  5. Walk through itAt eye height, in the light of the hour you chose.

Bring what you already have.

No redrawing and no special format. TILO works from the files and photos a project already has.

A photo or a scan of the plan
Set its scale and trace the rooms over it. Walls, doors and windows follow.
An AutoCAD drawing
The walls, doors and windows are read straight from the drawing.
A SketchUp or 3D model
It goes into the room as it is, materials included.
A photo of a tile or a finish
It becomes a material you can lay on any floor, wall or piece of furniture.
A photo or a drawing of a piece of furniture
Model Studio makes a 3D model of it, ready to place in the room.

Model Studio

Early access

The sofa your client showed you, in 3D.

The piece a client falls for rarely has a 3D model anywhere. Model Studio makes one.

  • From one photo

This sofa was made from a single product photo: 1.9 m long, 120,000 triangles.

  • Every panel its own part

Seat, back, arms and cushion come apart, so each can be covered in any fabric or leather.

  • Or from a drawing

Joinery such as a TV unit is built from its drawing, then checked against it and finished part by part.

  • Straight into your plans

Add it to your library and place it in any room, or export it for SketchUp or any other 3D modelling tool you use.

A step-by-step demo: a TV unit, from its drawing to a 3D model.

Change anything in a click.

  • Click a surface, pick a tile

Floors and walls take real tiles at their true size: straight, herringbone or diagonal, with the grout you want.

  • Drag the furniture where it goes

Move, turn and swap pieces while your client watches, and try the room three ways in a minute.

  • Set the hour and the lights

Morning sun, evening, or night with the lamps on. The room is lit the way it will really be.

  • Ceilings and their lights

Eight ceiling styles, from a slim band to a layered cove, with cove strips and downlights at their real output and colour temperature.

  • Furniture that fits the wall

Kitchen units with a sink and hob, wardrobes, TV units, beds, dining tables and bathroom fittings, each drawn to the length the wall takes.

  • A material for every surface

More than a hundred built in, hundreds more free to import from Poly Haven, and your own at their real repeat size.

Lit by real physics.

TILO works the light out the way it behaves in a real room. The same room from the same camera, at three hours of the day:

The living room at 13:00, the sun falling across the floor
13:00
The same room at 19:00, in low warm sunlight
19:00
The same room at 20:00, lit by its own lamps
20:00, lamps on
  • Sunlight by the hour

The sun's height, strength and colour follow the clock, so its light moves across the room as it really would.

  • Lamps in lumens

Every fitting has a real light output, so six downlights light a room the way six downlights do.

  • Light that bounces

Walls and floors pass the light on and tint it with their colour, the way a warm wall warms a room.

  • True reflections

Polished tile and glass mirror the room around them. Matte finishes don't.

Send your client a picture of it.

Choose a view in the room, then press Photo or Render. Both keep your camera, so the picture shows the view you chose.

The living room as the 3D view shows it while you design The same view made into a photograph with Photo The same view made into a picture with Render

The same room, as a photograph

Photo gives the view the look of a real shoot: daylight, surfaces and depth as a camera would catch them, with your furniture where you placed it.

About a minute. Small details can change, like the view out of a window. When the picture must match the drawings, use Render.

Exactly as you designed it

Render traces the room's own light, the way a camera sees it. Every material, lamp and reflection is as you set it, and nothing is added.

About a minute and a half, on our servers, so any laptop can do it.

Then issue the drawings.

The same plan becomes the drawing set for site, to scale, with its dimensions and schedules taken from the room itself.

  • The whole set

General arrangement, furniture layout, reflected ceiling plan, floor finishes and setting-out, and wall elevations.

  • To scale, or for CAD

PDF at true scale, from 1:10 to 1:200 on A4 to A0, or DXF in millimetres for AutoCAD.

  • Schedules filled in

Room areas, doors and windows, and furniture are listed from the plan, so the sheets always match it.

  • Setting-out for the tiler

Floors and wall elevations show the tiles coursed the way you laid them.

On any screen, with your whole team.

  • Phone, iPad or laptop

TILO runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install. Design on your laptop, then show the room on your client's phone.

  • Saved to your account

Your rooms, the materials you make and your furniture stay in your account. A room saved on one screen opens on the next with its lighting.

  • Shared with your team

Invite your team and share materials and furniture with everyone in it, so the whole studio designs from one library.
